Which position are you applying for?:
[x]Intern
Personal Details:
Name: Brad
Age: 20
Sex: Male
Character Name: Zulu & BloodRayne
Do you have a Skype (yes/no): Yes
Time zone: UTC -6:00
Location: United States
How long have you been in MapleOasis?:
Almost two weeks so far (eleven days).
Which languages do you speak and how well?:
Sadly I only know English. Quite well.
Do you have any prior work experience in real life? If so, where?:
I have prior work experience from high school (Taught algebra every Wednesday and Friday at a middle school as part of a school program).
How many hours can you be online everyday(schedule)?:
Going to be honest that I'm not on every day. I'm on usually 5 days of the week at least. In those days I am on I can be on anywhere from 2 to 8 or more hours.
Are you in any form of education?:
Currently no. I plan to go to college once I get things in life figured out.
Do you have any other commitments to MapleOasis(Donations,Suggestions,E.t.c)?:
I post bugs as I find them, currently. I may also have other posts such as guides or suggestions later on as well. I try to be moreately active on the forums.
Have you ever played any of the official MapleStory(s)?:
KMS about 6 years ago and Global Maple Story
How long have you been in PRE-BB MapleStory?:
Since almost the beginning (just a few short months after beta)
Have you ever been assigned a Staff position on any private server game(s)?:
For Maple Story, no. Other games, yes.
List the game(s):
Endless Online (Private server)(I list this ONLY because about 90% of being any kind of staff on that game is about dealing with people)
ExoTerra (Garry'd Mod community)
Diablo II (Private server)
How long have you worked there?:
I've worked on some of the endless online servers for anywhere from a few months to almost 3 years. I was staff on ExoTerra (Jailbreak Admin) for about 5 months. I was a co-owner of a vanilla Diablo II server for about 9 months.
What do your duties entail?
I was one of 2 people on the Diablo II server (with around 160+ daily players)to go threw chat logs and ban advertisers, bots, and "black market" item buyers/sellers (people paying real money for items or giving items for real money). I also was in charge of taking care of all reports by players and giving the reports to the appopriate staff (we had reports split into 4 general areas/topics with a staff hired/assigned to each area) (deaing with some of them myself if need be. On ExoTerra my job was generally to keep the players happy and keep hackers out of the server.. generally easy. My entire job on all of the Endless Online servers was to again keep players happy, hackers away, and fix broken maps (mapping was incredibly easy).
Do you still work there? If no, why not?
No, I no longer work on any of these servers/communities. The Diablo II server shut down after 11 months because of problems amongst staff that got worse and worse as time went on(lower ranked staff). I quit all the Endless online servers because of a general lack interest in them and having to do the work of most staff by myself (Endless online is extremely easy to work with if you're not making/adding custom features). I'd stil be staff on ExoTerra if my computer hadn't decided to just not want to run it anymore.
Are you more comfortable working alone or on a team?
In most cases, with a team. There's a few exceptions where I like to work alone and that's usually when dealing bans, reports, and events.
What skills or unique qualities will you be bringing with you to the Oasis Dev team?
To be honest.. I don't see my skills or qualities as unique. Since I have to pick something though I'll go with this: The qualities/skills I'll bring are being able relate with players (Since I've been where they are before or ridiculously close to it, and I know how it feels to be a player with a problem or who needs the help of staff.), prior experience (for the most part), willingness to learn AND teach, and a non-biased/non-favoritist realtionship with all players.
Besides those listed above, what do you believe to be important qualities of a Game Master?
Knowing what it is like to be a player. If you don't know what it's like then you failed that person, or people, before they even needed you. I also think treating everyone the same regardless of how much you like them or dislike them is important when being staff. Personally. Showing favoritsm or being biased as staff just shows weakness in staff and possible corruption. Least but not last being responsible and as professional as possible.
Why do you want to work with us?:
I've played for a short time but I like the community and I like the feel of the game. It'd also give me the chance to learn what it's like to be staff on maplestory since I haven't been before. I'm always willing to learn something and wish to have the chance to. I'd also like to help keep the server strong and a place people want to come back to.
